We departed early Saturday morning, the 17th of June, 2006, and arrived in Cane Creek Area of North Carolina shortly after noon that day. We spent several hours searching thru the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting Cemetery and took several pictures. This is a picture of the Grave marker for our Great^6 Grandmother Ruth (Dixon) Doan, the wife of Great^6 Grandpa John Doan. Ruth Doan was the first person buried in this Cemetery in 1764. More pictures will be uploaded to the site and made available for download or copy as time permits. We were hardly able to contain our excitement when we discovered these gravesites, even though we knew they existed. I will provide an address and directions to the Cane Creek Meeting House and Cemetery. We ate a quick lunch that afternoon and then drove north into Virginia using a route that our ancestors may have used to migrate to new lands in Ohio. We stayed overnite in Virginia and continued thru Charleston, West Virginia across the Ohio River into Ohio and then on to Wilmington, Ohio located in Clinton County, about 50 miles NorthEast from Cincinnati, Ohio.
